CHAPTER 2
Like a stream life flows on from time to time until the End. When some find themselves in the stream of life, they’d swim, while others like a dead fish get tossed everywhere else apart from the place of their desire.
Aishatu arose as early as 4 Am the next morning and instantly checked her Blackberry Torch 2 to see if a message has arrived from Ikenna, there was None. Despair and despondency wrapped her heart again as she began to sob. The night before she had begged, cried and done everything to make her Boyfriend now turned Ex to come back, he didn’t bulge. Her sleep was fitful and now she is up after just three hours of that with a throbbing head ache. She pinged him,and to her utter shock he had deleted her. Frantically she tried calling his phone with a fidgeting hand while using the back of her palm to wipe the freely flowing tears off her face. “Hello”. Then a click from the other line indicates that she has been cut off. After trying to call that line desperately for the umpteen time she collapses to the Mattress again, her head spinning like a carousel and her heart rending apart like a paper.
”Comot for Road Oga’ wetin dey do you,” Ola bounced back to his senses and narrowly brushed his left shoulder on the speeding Rickety Commuter bus. Today is Tuesday and as is habit on this day,he will go and stand behind those who bought or borrowed Guardian Newspaper to check for job. ” How could they be talking about election, when they aren’t doing anything about the Nation economy,PHCN,'” Lamented a Man dressed in suit who held a daily. He turned towards a person who appears to be his friend and they discuss the plight of the Nation. Some of those gathered around the Vendor discussed Sports, others discussed politics, while some group of people were busy writing details out of a Newspaper. Quickly Ola whose eye was trained to identify fellow job seekers among the group joined. “Abeg,Abeg, them wan buy that paper now oh,na the last one wey remain” The Vendor said rushing towards those converged around the Single newspaper. ” I hope una no tear am like last week own’ I just dey pity una dey give una because I too get pikin like una” The vendor continued as he snatches the paper from the group of about fifteen youths and rushed towards the parked Car of the Newspaper Customer. “Please, can I see the Addresses of the jobs available,’ Ola asked a man of about thirty-two years. “Alright, here is it,but please be fast,I’d like to go and send my CV asap,’ early bird they say eat the fattest worm'” He said laughing as he gave Ola his writing pad. ” Dangote needs Truck Drivers,I am told they pay well,I will sharply send my CV there as well” the Man continued while Ola wrote speedily from the borrowed writing pad to his. ”Hmm,is the job meant for graduates” Ola inquired. “Yes,’ I was even told it is Master holders they need” The Man replied. “Ahn ,Ahn, amazing, what is this country turning to?” Ola said, while using his old looking handkerchief to wipe his brow from the already scorching morning sun. “Na so ,I see am oh” the man said.
